“Late for flag? Margret scout up Chapel hill.”Admin comment: I’m not sure anybody outside of the camp from which I hail will understand this at all, so here’s the exp-
“The Golden Eaglet” is a black-and-white silent film from 1918 highlighting the adventures of one Margaret Scout (that’s not her last name, I have no idea what it is). She shows off the skills taught to Girl Scouts of the time- assisting the elderly and/or infirm, saving lives, swimming in her clothing and heading someplace in quickly and efficiently. This quick and efficient way is to alternate between ten walking steps and ten running steps, and to those of us who employ it in desperate situations, it’s referred to as “Margaret Scouting”.
It’s a funny video. You can find it in two parts here.(For reference Chapel Hill is a very steep path that goes from Water Front through the chapel and up to the main fire circle, in the center of camp. It’s generally agreed upon as being the most horrible trail at camp. I like it though <3)
Usually I say “Ok girls, no running on camp but skipping? Skipping when we are almost late is acceptable!” And then someone sees 20 girls and their staff come skipping up the hill.
This is lack. We pitched the tents in the U18 cabin and put all their mattresses in the abandoned unit.

So at my camp we have the llama-deer and a camp walrus…. XD
We watched this at camp in ‘06 . There were 3 units crammed into the Perk Cabin and all the counselors hung out in the kitchen. We thought it was hilarious.

Camp is an experience where no body is better then anyone else. Everybody wears old clothes, eats the same food, and does the same things. There are no social classes and kids who may not become friends outside of camp build bonds and incredible friendships that are unlike those of friends in the outside world. It teaches kids that people really will like them for who they are , not how they act or dress, and gives them confidence in themselves. Confidence in oneself benefits a person anywhere they go in life.
